DESIGNER SHOWCASE DESIGN
When I was a little girl, I went a Parade of Homes event in my hometown. I remember thinking the designs were all beautiful, and I collected all the business cards I could, treasuring them like famous autographs, thinking someday those contacts would be good to have. I decluttered those business cards long ago, but still thought it would be a dream to design a space that strangers toured and saw as a beautiful example of interior design.
Flash forward to today - and I am living that little girl’s dream.
Space Stylists & Co. was selected to be a featured designer in the 2025 Home Builder’s Association (HBA) Designer Showcase. This event happens once a year in our city, and features a fancy home in a sought after neighborhood each year. Sometimes the homeowners move out while renovation occurs, and other times like this year, the homeowner was simply investing in the home for a future owner. We were awarded a bathroom to design, and until the big reveal, I am going to share some highlights of the process with you!
So let’s get started!
Tour Existing Space: We had already toured the whole house when submitting our room preferences, and this beauty of a bathroom was what we got selected for. The black boards on the walls? The upside-down shelving unit with the toilet paper roll? The tank of the toilet high in the sky? All fun items we couldn’t wait to address. The classic claw foot tub and gold towel bars were beautiful in their own aged way, and we could see the potential.

2. Presentation: We returned to the bathroom to gather dimensions and dream about what this space could look like. Next step was to create a presentation for the homeowner and HBA Committee. We were told the homeowner wanted to honor the history of the home and wanted to invest in bringing it back to life. I leaned into the more traditional approach and created Option 1A and 1B in the presentation, a green bathroom design and blue bathroom design. The inspiration came from the wallpaper pattern, and maintaining the elevated trim that was located in portions of the existing bathroom. The previous co-founder went very trendy with the Option 2, creating a bold, spunky and fun twist on traditional design, pulling in some colors from the 1950’s. Check out the presentation we shared with them below!
