VANITY REFRESH

Sometimes an area of your home needs an update, but your schedule, budget, or some other obstacle just will not allow for a substantial remodel. At Space Stylists & Co., we are very familiar with this dilemma! So what to do? When you don’t want to paint, the space looks tired, and there is no option for a big update? The answer is simple: refresh.

This proves true in our latest project: Vanity Refresh

This family had recently purchased a new home, that needed some aesthetic upgrades. Since they were putting effort into other areas of the house, they didn’t want to do anything grand to their master bathroom. Few reasons include: long term they would like to renovate it and change out the tile, upgrade the shower, and potentially move some walls. Since this project would be a few years from now (if they even get to it before they sell the house) they wanted a refresh that made the master bathroom feel a little more like an oasis instead of a tired space.

What was the process? Let’s dive in!

  1. New Fixtures: Step one was to update the faucet, cabinet hardware, and towel rods. The previous homeowner had a silver finish in this bathroom, but the current couple wanted to glam up the space with some mixed metals. The faucet was switched out for a luxurious champagne gold and matte black combo faucet. The cabinet hardware was swapped for a matte black linear pull on the drawers and a funky gold and black decorative pulls on the doors. The towel rods were all swapped for a matte black as well!

  2. Creative Storage: Although this is a master bathroom - it is quite tiny. The couple was struggling to store their necessities in an organized way. Space Stylists added a towel rack for additional storage above the mirror, and some vertical shelving for smaller items to keep the prime real-estate of the counter more clear.

  3. Styling: A key to forming an oasis is to style and decorate the space with the end goal in mind. This included adding some wall art, candle, and other decorative items to help add personality in the space.

  4. New Rug: One of our favorite additions to this master bathroom is the rug in front of the vanity from Boutique Rugs. Space Stylists selected the Rudo Beige area rug to tie in the existing tan/beige tones of the master bathroom while pulling in some greys and other tones that the couple is incorporating into the rest of their home. It is a great piece to connect the master bathroom to the rest of the house while the couple waits to take on the large renovation project, AND the rug is machine washable!

A few other notes include that no major painting was completed for this project. The couple found a small can of paint that matched the existing color and used that to touch up some scratches and patch where the old towel rods were hung, but no major painting was needed - a key element for a quick refresh in our opinion!!
