HOLIDAY HUSTLE
Although we are still in the sunny days of summer, some stores already think it is Christmas (we’re looking at you, Hobby Lobby). While it is not the Thanksgiving or Christmas Season yet, this time of year is a “last call” for some renovation projects to be completed by the holidays.
Does that seem wild? Let’s map out a quick project schedule below:
August: Engage with Space Stylists & Co., have an introductory meeting, and discuss design goals. Space Stylists & Co. will begin your custom Palette Package Options and begin finish selection. (Interview and hire a contractor if needed!)
September: Continue meetings and revisions with Space Stylists & Co., approve revisions on the design and finalize the direction. Confirm with your contractor longer lead-time items if applicable.
October: Demolition and construction to start. Order any furniture or decor that is needed for the space.
November/December: Finalize construction, style with finishing touches, and host your holiday party!
This is a basic timeline, and it is important to remember that every project is different, and every project has hiccups. For a quick project like this, make sure that your finishes are in stock and readily available. This might mean going to a big box store and selecting from one of their product lines over a custom selection just to ensure that you have product for the contractor to install.
If you are tackling this project by DIY, schedule out tasks for different weeks/weekends to keep yourself on schedule for the renovation. Don’t fall into the trap of procrastination and have a half-finished job by the time Thanksgiving arrives!
