PATIO POINTERS
Summer! Fun, watermelon, ice cream, sunscreen, and sunglasses! We are in the midst of summer and are soaking up every ounce of this great season that we can. If the warm summer nights have you spending more time outside, it might be time for a Patio Refresh!
Join us below for some fun tips, and considerations when revamping your outdoor space.
New Patio Cushions: If you’re not ready to set aside a budget for new patio furniture, a great way for a quick refresh is new patio cushions. This is a great way to update your outdoor space with a much smaller price tag than new furniture. We recommend getting a storage container for your new cushions for when they’re not in use. That way the squirrels won’t get to them, the sun won’t reach them, and if there is a summer storm, those cushions will be out of the water threat.
Outdoor Decor: This can be done tastefully if you select your decor on a theme. Your theme could be a color, or something a little more literal, just pick a topic and stay with it! Consider getting a serving platter, coasters, candles, and some fun outdoor glassware that will really elevate your experience.
Lighting: When the sun goes down, you’re going to want something to brighten your space so that you can see your guests! Hanging lights around the perimeter of a patio, or strung over a seating area is a great way to create a fun experience. Consider getting battery-powered candles that are on a timer so you can set them out strategically and in your covered spaces for a fun and automatic ambience. We also love citronella candles to keep those pesky, mosquitoes away, or if you’ve got a beachy theme, bring out the tiki torches!
New Oudoor Rug: A new (or just freshly cleaned) outdoor rug is a great way to further divide space on a patio, and create a soft feel underfoot.
Shade Cover: The final tip we recommend is some sort of covering over your seating arrangement. If you don’t have a permanent overhang, consider getting a pergola, an outdoor umbrella, or even a freestanding sunshade, to provide the relief from the summer sun. This is a great way to make those summer times truly enjoyable!
