SAVE THE PENNY
Is your house feeling a little drab lately? Just kind of boring, a bit of the same-old, same-old? Have an urge to purge everything you own, and just start over? We know the feeling. While we are happy to help with any complete re-designs of spaces, budget does not always allow for this kind of overhaul.
So what to do? How can you make your space feel refreshed without spending a penny? What can you do to reset your home and have a space that feels new and exciting, while still using your comfy and familiar stuff? Well, you have come to the right place, because we have some solutions for you!
Furniture Shuffle: A great way to make a space in your home feel brand new is to rearrange your furniture. This can be a little challenging if you have an art installation on an accent wall, but get creative! We bet you can shuffle that couch and those lounge chairs, and swap a couple pieces to break up the monotony of the room. This is a fun way to keep you on your toes and make a space function differently than it did before!
Decor Mix-Up: This might be the most fun of our options, and will really get you thinking outside the box. Gather up all of your decor around the house. Yes, we mean the cute trinkets you have hidden away on a shelf in your guest room, the faux succulent stored on a shelf in your bathroom - gather all those goodies and put them together. Then, mix them all up! Re-allocate those decor items to new areas in your house. Give a front a center display for a piece on the bookshelf in your living room that you had tucked away in your bedroom, and enjoy the variety! This is a great way to get the most use out of your decor pieces, and adds an easy change to your space that doesn’t take a lot of effort but still makes your home feel new.
Deep Clean: Ahh yes - you realize that the dirt and clutter are what are making your home feel sad. Grab that trash bag, a donation box, and a vacuum and get to work! Move your furniture, clean underneath (and hey, why not wipe down those baseboards since you can see them?). Use some fresh-smelling cleaner or your favorite essential oils to refresh surfaces. Tackle those clutter piles of old mail, donate those things you just don’t use, and throw away the trash! Removing visual clutter that has been weighing on your mind is a great way to feel re-energized. There is little to compare to walking in to a freshly cleaned room, and it is a great way to make any house feel like a home!
We hope these tips will provide a starting point to help you freshen your home and give that comfy feeling back to your space, without buying something new.
