SEASONAL SWITCH
Do you ever find yourself bored with your interior space, but do not have the time or funds to do a complete overhaul?
It can be easy for a beautiful home to feel drab because everything is the same month after month. Things start to get dusty, and we can find ourselves dissatisfied with what we once celebrated over. Then the dreaming begins, and many times, these ideas never become reality because the price is just too expensive.
If only we had unlimited resources, right?
Here are a few ways you can design your home with decoration flexibility, so that when you get bored and want an upgrade, your bank account can stay happy with you!
Throw Pillows: Now we love a good pillow, but at around $20 a piece or more per pillow, that cost can add up really quick. A fun way to beat the system? Pillowcases. There are some great zipper pillowcase options for throw pillows. Find yourself a good solid color throw pillow that works on it’s own, or a plain white pillow, and toss a zipper pillowcase on those whenever you need a change. Also, the pillowcases are much easier to store than fluffy pillows when you aren’t using them!
Faux Flower Arrangements: This is such a fun switch to make around your home. Find some real-looking faux flowers and create 4 bouquets - one for summer, spring, fall, and winter. Display the in-season one and only have 3 to store away in a closet until the next time they make their debut! Such a fun way to warm up your dining room or living room and keep things feeling fresh.
Table Runner: Family meals are a great way to make a house feel like a home. By adding a table runner to your place setting display, you are not only giving a fun pop of color to your dining room, but you are adding a fun element to those cozy meals! Since the table runners will store away flat, this is another great area to have several different designs to swap out.
Wall Art: There are a couple different solutions to keeping wall art fresh. One is to utilize printed images/posters that are the same size, and invest one time in a nice frame. Then whenever you want to switch things up, you can swap out the image in the frame. Bonus points for storing all of the artwork in the frame all year round - so then you don’t need extra storage and the other pieces are just right behind the one in the spotlight! Another idea is to have a small collection of art options that are all hung the same way (a single nail, or hook, etc.) in a nearby closet and rotate through those as the year goes by.
With all of these Seasonal Switch ideas, be thinking about them all year round. Nothing beats getting a huge discount on a super cute summer table runner when the weather is cooling off and the stores are setting up for fall. Another great consideration is that you don’t need to start off with all options for every flexible space. Build your collection as you live your life, and don’t forget to declutter and donate the decorations that served you better in a previous stage of life.
